Our Vision

Zakat, one of the Five Pillars of Islam, plays a crucial role in fostering social equity and compassion within an Islamic society. By mandating that Muslims donate a portion of their wealth to those in need, Zakat helps to alleviate poverty and reduce economic disparities. This act of charity not only purifies the giver’s wealth but also strengthens community bonds and promotes a sense of solidarity. Additionally, Zakat encourages responsible financial behavior and a spirit of generosity, ensuring that resources are distributed more equitably and that the well-being of the entire community is prioritized.

Indeed, those who believe, do good, establish prayer, and pay alms-tax will receive their reward from their Lord, and there will be no fear for them, nor will they grieve.

Al-Qur’an, 2-277

Goals of the Sharī’ah

The goals of Shariah for the collection of Zakat, known as Maqasid al-Shariah, are multifaceted and aim to achieve several key objectives:

  1. Purification of Wealth: Zakat purifies the wealth of the giver, ensuring that it is free from impurities and morally sound.
  2. Eradication of Poverty: By redistributing wealth, Zakat aims to alleviate poverty and provide financial support to those in need.
  3. Socio-Economic Development: Zakat funds are used to promote economic stability and development within the community, supporting initiatives that benefit the public.
  4. Social Solidarity: Zakat fosters a sense of community and solidarity, encouraging Muslims to support one another and strengthen social bonds.
  5. Equitable Distribution of Resources: It ensures that wealth is not concentrated in the hands of a few, promoting a more equitable distribution of resources.

These goals align with the broader objectives of Shariah, which seek to protect and promote the well-being of individuals and society as a whole.
